Google adds seasonal search data to keyword tool

You can now estimate potential search volumes for a certain keyword based on month of the year.

This will certainly be handy for people in the entertainment and travel industries.

So what is the trick for getting your ad to show up in the top 3 positions? Simple, you bid the maximum cpc and if you have a decent ctr you will appear.

If only it was as easy as that.

While google will not say implicitly what the requirements for getting in the top 3 positions they say more or less what requirements your ad has to fulfill.

1. Your must be bidding above a certain undisclosed minimum cpc i.e. if you are bidding at 10p you will not make it into the top three.

2. Your adtext must be relevant to the triggering keyword. So If you were to use dynamic keyword insertion in the ad title and again in the body this would make the ad text relevant.

3. Your adgroups CTR.

4. Your overall quality score which takes a number of factors into account, including your conversion rate.

Deftones have announced there latest european tour dates. And once again I wont be able to see them because I will be touring Europe at exactly the time they are playing.

Spring seems to have finally arrived after more than a month of single figure temps. This weekend it climbed to the highest this year + 16 degrees C.

Also daylight saving kicked in on sat nite leaving us with an extra hour of sunlight in the evenings.

Watched an excellent episode of Ray Mears survival series. He was down in New Zealand and it was really cool to learn a bit about New Zealand as I know so many Kiwi’s. And there seem to be Maouries everywhere. So he tought them a thing or two about making fires and then all thses little pyromaniacs kids were sitting down setting fire to everything in site. and there mum was like “aah man, we took away all there lighters and matches but now hes taught them how to burn down the school by rubbing two sticks together”.

No not really..

Oh yeah and new site and new blog - hopefully by the time I get back to SA in August it will have a decent PR and will be a little further from the bottom of the sand box.
